2019 GX460 100k miles needs trans, diff, and trf case service
Hi -
My wife's 2019 GX460 has 100,000 miles and no leaks or problems.
We have never serviced the transmission, front and rear differentials, or transfer case.
Dealer and independent shop both say flush the transmission, so I went to a highly rated transmission shop and they said we need to remove the pan, change the filter, and install new gasket with just drain and fill.
I am an amateur at this so based upon what I have read online the Transmission shop seems best to trust with what to do.
Your advice?
Thanks!

At 100k, you are at the perfect window for a comprehensive service. The transmission shop gave you the best advice, a pan drop and filter change is much safer than a high-pressure flush on a high-mileage vehicle.
If I were in your shoes, I would perform the following to ensure another 100k of trouble-free miles:
Transmission Service
Skip the flush. Have the shop remove the transmission fluid plate, replace the internal filter/strainer and O-ring, and install a new pan gasket.
Required Parts: Strainer (35330-60070), O-Ring (90301-31014), and Gasket (35168-60010).
Fluid: Only use Toyota Genuine ATF WS (00289-ATFWS), if you want to use amsoil its up to you, in most cases Toyota OEM WS works great.
Differentials & Transfer Case
In case these have never been touched, the fluid is likely well past its prime.
Front & Rear Differentials: Drain and fill with GL-5 gear oil (SAE 75W-85).
Transfer Case: Drain and fill with 70W/75W GL-4 fluid.
Crucial Step: Replace all 6 crush washers (for both fill and drain plugs on all three units) to prevent leaks.
Check the rear differential breather in case it's stuck, part number 90930-03031
Driveline Maintenance
This is the most overlooked service on the GX460. If you haven't done so yet, grease the drive shaft
Apply fresh chassis grease to the 4 spider joints and the 2 slip slide yokes. This prevents the common "thump" felt when coming to a stop.
Hope it helps!

Personally I would reserve the brake fluid flush for a brake job, but understand its hygroscopic etc.
The other two, can be done as home if necessary, if you dont mind the mess. turkey baster ps fluid, drop the coolant in the rad, and while not perfect, better then a lot of GXers.
Ps fluid is any dexron 3 if you dont mind the red staining.
Coolant, use toyota sllc.

Got my 2019 back from the Transmission shop.
Total cost was $1,200 including the driveshaft and joints lube.
Said my transmission and transfer case and differential fluids were ok and no particles.
Good to know after 100,000 miles.

I appreciate all of your comments and now want to ask about the Power Steering Fluid change, the Radiator coolant, PVC valve, spark plugs, and the Serpentine belt.
I am very amateur so let me know your thoughts and costs?
Our 2019 GX460 is running great and the dealer does oil changes but I do cabin and engine air filters.

I'd highly suggest you replace the OEM radiator at this time....cracks around the cheap oem radiator usually start around 100k miles. Replace with an all-aluminum like the CSX. New CSF 2010+ Lexus GX460 Heavy-Duty All-Aluminum Radiator
Just understand there's a lot of "wallet flush" type services that are pushed.

good advice..
to add to this:
drain and refill the coolant (Use toyota long life coolant). easy job to do...You can just do it from radiator. about a gallon. drain /refill twice, each time bring to operating temp and max heat to burp air.
Replace the radiator cap with new one.
power steering flush (Use Idemitsu PSF)
and brake fluid flush. ( I like ATE 200)
for transmission, a drain and fill without removing the pan is ok as well....

I am going to do the Radiator fluid and power steering fluid change myself as an amateur.
I purchased the Radiator fluid and cap from the Toyota dealer and price was 50% of Lexus parts.
Is this a good fluid for the power steering fluid change? --> Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle ATF Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid 1 Gallon
