Default non oem parts caused hell on this gx

TCCN great vid here

could be that the non oem part doesnt have the transient voltage circuit. this means that the ADC (analog to digital conversion circuit) wasnt receiving a stable voltage. could also be that the circuit went bad but that is super rare. eliminating that section of the board allows non oem to be less expensive. the vehicle voltage control does maintain a lower voltage limit but the ADC chip uses an amplification which because of the missing transient circuit will have low voltage even at vehicle acceptable levels. heat on the board components can also play afactor

Any type of sensor you go with OEM.

Who knows, the shop that did the repair with the "counterfeit" sensor may have thought they were installing a legit one.

Interesting that a weak battery will throw a crank position sensor fault code. Due to the increasing number of counterfeit Toyota/Lexus parts, it's always best to buy them directly from the dealer.

When available, I'll always choose Aisin or Denso branded parts from RockAuto (or similar) over parts from the dealer.
You get the same exact part for 1/3 the cost oftentimes.

They likely got the part off Ebay which has majority of OEM marked parts being counterfeit. They are usually ways to tell, the most obvious is the price.

Another oddity (or maybe not?) on some ECUs a dead crank position sensor will not throw any codes at all. Engine will crank not start that's it.

Yes, OEM parts are a good value alternative to Toyota/Lexus parts, so too are some aftermarket brands. For Toyota/Lexus branded parts, I would only buy those from the dealer.
