Default OEM Rear Entertainment System & ROKU

Hello. I fired up the RES for the first time since buying our GX recently and attempted to install a ROKU stick via the HDMI port so our toddler could watch TV on longer road trips via our cell hot spot.

The screens seems to be working (remote and wireless headphones work for sound and the screens work) however I could not get the ROKU stick to function.

For anyone who has a ROKU working on the OEM RES.. what is the secret I'm missing?
It seems like it should be easy enough. I have the ROKU HDMI stick powered by one of these . Should I try the rear cargo plug with an extension cord? The roku blinks white and I can hear it when push the roku remote buttons however the RES screen is just blank, like there is no video input coming from the ROKU.... I'm using my cell phone as the hotspot for the roku wifi connection.

there is mention of "video mode" in the navigation manual but not clear on how to activate it.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

just a guess, but you might be running into a display resolution mismatch. I have had similar issues with amazon fire sticks and older TV's with lower resolutions. You might try hooking it up to a TV and setting the resolution to the lowest possible setting then trying again in the car.

Also maybe test just a phone to HDMI playback to rule out the ROKU vs some other issue if you have not.
