Default Rear Window and Carwashes

Every time I run through a drive through car wash, the next 10 minutes I’m wiping soapy drips coming down the back window.

Seals around opening of actual window are fine, but wondering why such an amount of soapy water is coming down - thinking from the gap up top?

Hinges for rear window rusted up.

Maybe a seal somewhere above rear wiper that need replaced?

im the third owner so who knows what someone did, but can’t be right.

Anyone else experienced this?

Normal. Almost every SUV has this problem. Dust and dirt just love getting up in these crevices. I hand wash so I just run the power washer for several minutes until the dirt and then soap disappears from the water stream.

I think every suv with a spoiler has that problem with car washes.
if you look at ones without it like a Tesla Model Y, the rinse cycle water flows well and no soap is left behind.

Wow, that's a lot of water inside. Mine doesn't do anything like that. Now water on the outside because of the wiper being under the spoiler takes a bit to get dry,

Try a different carwash. I don have that problem on my 2012. I do wipe out the window and barn door areas after every carwash so maybe that is keeping some drain areas opened up not sure.

Somewhat normal, weatherstripping wasn't really designed for high water pressure.

You can buy a grease made to help soften weatherstripping, Shin-Etsu is a good one made for Honda.
It's just messy if you brush up against it on your clothes.

please try to wash the car yourself. GX 460 is not that big and it's not really hard to wash. just some car wash foam, a hose, a bucket and some tap water, towels and drying towels will easily do it. would just take you 25 minutes work to make it very clean. and save money and time to go to car wash.

The problem for many is the hard water in certain parts of the country. You can literally ruin the paint with hard water spots.

I sometimes wash my own car, but I have a filter for the water. What I dont always have is the time.

Default Carry microfiber towels

I own a Porsche, an RC-F and now the GX and they all allow the suds and the wash to creep into different places. So, first off you should be not driving these thru car washes 😉. Secondly, get out and wipe er down. Helps clean the areas tighter and make the next wash easier. Cheers

That looks like your car wash doesnt work effectively.

Keep a bottle of quick detailer post wash and focus on those areas.

Normal depending on the rinse jets and their spray angle. Some car washes exacerbate this, and some do an OK job.

Note - nothing is getting past any weather-stripping (the area shown with soap around the glass is OUTSIDE the main barn-door gate seal, and no soap/water gets past the inner window seal) - so no danger of issues - just annoying. Most car washes have compressed air that can help blow it out - but I always end up with a few soapy drips the first few miles after washing then wiping down.

car wash ruined the paint on my car. the high pressure wash is very harsh on car paints and it pushes the dust into the paint. I didn't go to car wash anymore. I wash the car myself and it only takes half an hour. I enjoy it.
