Default Please help me decide (noob here)...

I'm sure this has been addressed numerous times before but I am new to the forum so I apologize in advance.

I am getting new tires for my '15 GX Base (PLEASE KEEP READING! &#129763. I would like to know what tire size looks best on a bone stock setup with factory wheels. I do not plan on off roading the vehicle. I am looking purely for aesthetic reasons. I just want to beef up the stance and hopefully get some poke from this wheel/tire setup (if possible without any modifications 😲😳 - outside of the screw situation and zip tie method). Just plug and play as much as possible. I believe my choices come down to these three...

- 265/70/18
- 275/70/18
- 275/65/18

Which would make the most, if any, impact? Or is there a size I'm not aware of? I know it's minimal, but again, I just want a beefer stance even if it isn't much, without modification. Thanks in advance for any input. I'm sure answers for this question suffer from fatigue and again I apologize.

Btw I will be purchasing BFG KO2/KO3s. Let's keep it on point though, because I know things can get heated when tire brands get mentioned!!!

I rocked the 275/65/18 (32") option for several years before recently going to a diff setup (33" on 17" wheels). Only required some minimal fender massage and that tire size has plentiful options at the major tire stores. The extra side wall came in handy when driving offroad e.g. at the beach.

Gratuidous pic from when it had those 32" tires:

What do you mean by "stance"? I think of it as fixing the narrow track train car look, but it takes different wheels with less backspacing or spacers on stock wheels to do that. If you are just looking for a tire that'll fill the wheel well better than stock, you'll get lots of opinions here on what size tire works best.

^ ... agree ... stance ? ... with 10mm wider tires where only 5mm goes outboard ? ... you need more outboard wheel offset ... about 20mm ... and wider wheels ... ideally 8.0 even with 265's that have too much sidewall bulge with the stock 7.5- inch wheels. But as wheel offset goes outboard, the clearance to the front body mount decreases due to the increased arc ... so the bottom line ... voting is worthless information ... there are plenty of wheel posts to educate on what best serves your end goal.

Yes it is a little of both like you mention. The stock setup just doesn't look right. When I sit there and look at it parked or another drives by me, it looks like the wheel/tire setup was an afterthought. I've always thought this since the GX came out. I just wanted to make it look slightly better. I know tires are the bare mimimum or starting point to make that happen. Since I need new tires, I thought I would address what I could at this time. I will eventually get new wheels to achieve what I'm ultimately looking for. But yes, filling the wheel wells is probably the main goal right now. Tires are just a start. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it!

Thanks for the input! The pic helps. Same color as mine. Do you have a pic looking down the side from the front/back or an angled view by chance?

Thanks for the feedback! I just want to know what the most improvement I could accomplish with tires as my only source. I guess a better way of putting it would be, if you were in my situation and could only change tires (without heavy mods) what size you get for now? Does that make sense? 🤔 I appreciate the info regarding offset numbers, wheel size, etc. I'll be needing that in the future!

I put 265/70/17 and I couldn't be happier. Gives me a 1" lift over stock just with a tire change.

FWIW, you need to come out 1.25" to bring the stock tire/wheel set to flush with the body. Before/after pics:

You won't get close to that with just tires so, as you seem to be doing, concentrate on the tire size you want, for now.

Just an inch larger in height with an increase in diameter over OEM. Does that make sense?
