Default Throttle Controllers

I have 2023 GX460 with 9000 miles. I have been watching and reading a lot about throttle controllers for GX 460 as the engine feels a bit sluggish. Do they work ? I see so many pros and cons can't decide, if installed are there any issues that pop out ?

I had one on our '15 4Runner, and it made a huge improvement, no downsides. I've never felt my GX470 needed one, but the GX460 would likely benefit greatly as the throttle lag is terrible.

Have the "ShiftPower" ... simple with a great Bluetooth (Smartphone) interface ... huge difference in throttle response and livelier shift points. Installed on a GX-460 ... 4-Runner ... FJCruiser. No meaningful difference in gas mileage ... all based on one's foot.

I used a Sprint Booster. Programs via remote on a cable, which you can remove and store away somewhere once you're happy with the settings. These are not the kind of thing I see any point in making frequent changes to, set it to where it should have been from factory and drive.

They are all mostly the same with a few features here and there differentiating them. I ended up with a pedal commander. City +1 was the setting I ended up using 99% of the time.

Though after my tune I don't need the pedal commander anymore.

Your tune? What did you do that you don't
need it anymore?

Another vote for Shiftpower. Really improved throttle response and shifting. Interface is great, but I'm not really using interface so much now that I know settings by just pressing wired illuminated arrow button. Well worth the pretty reasonable $200+- price. I may have lost 1 mpg if I drive it more aggressively to take advantage of response. But usually mileage is same as before. There are much cheaper options on Ebay, etc now...but I'd be leary of plugging them into a very complicated expensive piece of machinery.

Run mine at 50% and leave it there. Nice instant throttle response and shift points. Going 100% is insane ... yes, the GX-460 does have power ... the original (Lexus) Pedal Mapping just completely dumbs down the response ... not the engine's fault ...

The tune adjusts the throttle and shift mapping to meet or exceed that of the throttle controller. So it's redundant to have the throttle controller connected after the tune.

I just got notification from Beatsonic the SP26 Shiftpower 4.0+ Throttle Response Controller is currently on sale for $167.95, an excellent price.
Mine has worked great, my favourite feature is the throttle disconnect, a great theft deterant.

I use a Pedal Commander set to Sport -2 and it has drastically improved throttle response and shift points. Makes driving the GX much more enjoyable.
