Anti theft socket go bye-bye
Well I went to rotate the wheels on my 2018 GX460 to get ready for a T Day trip and apparently I left my anti-theft lug socket in the woods a few weeks ago and just now realized I didn't place it back in the door. I've already visited Autozone and Advanced and they laughed at me. I ordered one off Amazon that didn't remotely fit. Is this a stealership only part? I can't even location the socket as a part number.
the toyota kit numbers have the same ending as the mcgard but are different. you can go to the lexus dealer they will tell you which one you have. they will also remove the locks for free if you want. theres either a 2 or 3 digit code on each key. the keys come in a set with like 15 or so, i dont remember.
How did you figure out the code of the locks on your car to match the correct key? You do realize that the keys are not all the same?
You will probably need to go to the dealer and have them remove the keyed lugs on your car and replace them with the ones you bought...or just replace with standard lug nuts.

Probably easiest to have dealer remove the existing locking lugnuts and replace them with a new Lexus/McGard set. If I recall the set is relatively inexpensive. With the new set you will get a card where you can order another "key" for about $15.

a nice socket smash technique works. im sure youtube has videos showing removal methods when you dont have the key. i wouldnt bother using the locks besides maybe the cone shaped ones. for a majority of people they are more trouble than worth.
As a financially challenged youth I had a beater with locks on the wheels and a lost key. A weekend with a Dremel tool boring out cheap sockets and hammering them on the security lugs…finally got them off. :-)
Well my 2nd mail ordered option did not work. I learned if you beat on an 19MM socket and then back them out with an impact wrench you can remove all four without the key in about 20mins. Biggest pain was getting the lug out of the socket but a short piece of rebar and a BFH will resolve.
My wife had hers in for service and they had to do the destroy method as her key was in my GX apparently. Not sure why they even put them on these days, wheel thefts on OEM wheels is not that common. Not since the late 90s has wheel theft been an issue. (Am a retired chief of police - spent years in the nuances of that stuff.)
Years ago Lexus gave you an order form for the wheel locks, which specified the McGard part number. About 10 years ago you sent McGard a picture of your wheel lock head, they could send you the key.
These options are gone nowadays. The first day I took delivery of my cars, I took the wheel locks off.
