Cool Driver side mirror

My driver side mirror closes when at high speed. Can this be fixed, or is a replacement necessary?
2015 GX460
Additional info : It happens with extended mirrors attached. The mirrors will pull in when the button is pressed.

Sounds like it's either a broken gear or it needs to be reseated. Push the mirror all the way forward towards the front. See if it snaps back in to place when you bring it back to the normal position.

I push the mirror all the way forward and it doesn't snap back. It makes a clicking sound while its being moved. It seems to have several locking points. The first one, the mirror will snap back into place. All the way forward i have to pull it back to normal position.

^I have the same issue with my 2017 when I use extended towing mirrors and drive at high speeds. The mirrors fold in from the added force of the wind pushing on the mirror extensions. Both mirrors feel very floppy.

only my driver side mirror does it.
Maybe these mirrors can't handle the extra force.???

Find another GX and see what those mirrors do? Not very common in my area otherwise I would.

It might be by design. If someone bumps into the mirror you want it to fold instead of breaking. Not sure if there's any way to lock it in a position.

With extension mirrors on my previous 4Runner the mirrors would fold back when an approaching semi would pass by. Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. Needless to say I stopped using them.

yeah just one mirror does it. I just don't want to buy another mirror and it does it also. last time we took packing tape and wrapped the articulating joint so it wouldn't move.
