Oil changes in the time of Covid
I looked at the oil change sticker on the windshield, and realized that 6 months will be up in a few days, yet I've only put 2800 miles on it.
Normally I pay attention to when fluids "age out" but I just can't bring myself to do it this time. Especially since so little of those miles were city miles with lots of cold starts.

You don't even have to jack up the truck. Just remove the pan's bolt and drain the oil. Replace oil filter and oil and you're done. Say good bye to 30 minutes of your time and you are done.

Re: Covid
Nothing to do with the illness, however lots of people are working from home during this period (like myself) and aren't putting miles on. I meant it more as a general descriptor, since saying "middle of 2020" isn't going to be specific enough, given that we're likely to go into 2021 like this.
Re: Oil type/brand/grade
No idea. It's whatever bulk oil the dealer uses. The 2UZ-FE has a big enough pan that I'm not worried about going 5000 miles between changes (modern oils are amazing). However, letting it sit for 9+ months gets questionable.

My driving has gone way, way down over the past 6 months due to working from home as well, a tank of fuel is lasting a month rather than a week in the GX.
I agree with the sentiment that these engines are easy on oil, the color stays golden a long time and I've been changing every 8,000kms/5000miles as well on a full synthetic oil and OEM filter. Still has never leaked a drop of anything!

I run full synth 1yr or 10kmi. I hit 1yr way before 10kmi. My UOA's show the oil has plenty left to go. I could probably get away with just a filter change (I use the longer WIX filter) and run another year on the oil, but I don't. 224+ kmi now on the vehicle, getting ready to swap fuel injectors, new plugs, and a little maintenance under the intake.
But remember, every vehicle is different due to use/environment/maintenance. Do some UOA's with Blackstone and then decide from there.

Chip,
As long as you start and run the engine every couple of weeks, the oil should be ok and you still can make it last another 6 months easily!
and since you're in NC, an oil change in February-March should not be too bad temperature wise. I do mine about this time a year every year before the colder weather starts in the comfort of my driveway. I too, like many here do an oil change every 5000 miles or every 12 months with either synthetic Mobil1 or Wal-Mart brand synthetic oil.
