Default GX 470 as a daily driver

Hi.
I am currently working from home and if I go back to the office, I will be driving approximately 30 miles a day.
I wanted to hear if it's a good idea to get GX 470 (my budget's around $10k-12k) as a daily driver.
Please share your thoughts.

I'm seeing about 13mpg doing daily driver duties. How does that sound to you? If you're cool with that, a GX470 makes an amazing daily driver.

My average is up to 14.3 mpg because I'm not commuting anymore. My drives since March have been longer highway runs.

Agree - the GX is very comfortable in daily traffic, and since I added the USB reader, I can load my music and just relax.
Having window tint helps keep the interior cool.

New plugs, and the injectors serviced by RC , you will get "better" MPG's.

The GX470 is a heavy underpowered boat in terms of a daily driver. I like my 2006, at 224kmi it still runs and rides smooth.

If you want something a bit more zippy and better MPG's, GX470 is not it, etc.

I don't make the commute every day, but it is a 58 mile round trip, mostly on highways. Much better commuter car than my previous one except for the mileage. I hover between 15-16mpg if all I do is drive to the office and back. As mentioned above, since I plugged a Bluetooth adapter into my AUX port, music, books, etc make the drive enjoyable. Very comfortable, especially since I replaced the tires.

I average 17-19mpg on my 1 hour round trip commute. I don't have a heavy foot so I'm not surprised.

I would say its slightly underpowered myself, coming from a Cayenne into this, but its adequate. I get about 18mpg, mostly highway use to my job though.

I find the GX very comfortable to drive as a DD. Before covid, I was driving 80 miles round trip to work daily. Since the price of gas is lower, I don't really pay that much attention to mpg. I too have a usb input and enjoy listening to podcasts and my chosen music. I know the weight and girth of the car will help protect me in a wreck since I live in Texas, land of large pickups and monster suvs.

Comfortable cruiser, good road manners for a truck-based SUV. MPG can be atrocious but good in bad weather

10 miles to my work on 2 lane state roads and I get about 16.2mpg on my 08 I picked up as a beater to save miles on my truck. Its cheaper to keep what I have running than start payments over again. Mileage is about the same as my truck on local driving , and it's a lot easier to park! I really like how the GX takes bumps better than anything I have owned. And I'm close to 60.

GX470's are quiet boats due to being heavy and air bags out back.

If "you" have a GX470 be sure to check these items:
1) the outer bottom window seal/molding on all the doors. I got a full OEM set for $68 (some place in UAE) but it did not come with the little plastic retainer clip that hold the inner door rubber/seal end part to the molding, so be very careful to not destroy those retainers taking them out. I cannot find any part # for them either.
2) go look at the rubber bump stops in/under rear, are they ripped. I replaced mine a few years ago but before installing I filled the holes with some urethane calk to help stiffen them just a tad. So far they work good.

I find that GX470 at about 12-14yrs old need a bunch of the minor stuff replaced.

22 miles round trip for my daily commute. about 50/50 freeway and surface streets.

Had my 2004 for about 11 months now. Quietest and smoothest car I have ever owned and love it as my DD. Also an amazing rig for weekend and 3-4 hour distance mountain biking trips, which is why I really sought out the GX. Roomy comfortable and quiet and can handle any and all trailhead access roads with zero worries.

I use about a half a tank a week and seem to average around 15-16mpg on my commute.
Factor in a few extra $$ for gas for our recreation trips but well worth the benefits to me. And it was rock solid through some really nasty weather road trips this winter when all kinds of other vehicles were sliding off the roads.

Great rig if you can accept the mileage you will get.

1st gen's with their age, will all need minor-medium maintenance. Now just started hearing about some having issue with their trans. 2003-2006's seem to be issue with under intake stuff, wheel hub bearings, cv axles, seat motors, suspension parts, etc etc. I have not heard anyone report issues with the front or rear diffs needing service or replacement, maybe those outlast the engine or frame?

I like my 2006, but I think it's on last leg of life.
