Default gone too soon...

Well... my GX470 was completely destroyed on 9/30/19... I was coming home from work and the interstate came to a quick stop... a few seconds later and I was struck by a 2016 Mercedes C300. The C300 had to be traveling over 80mph.

Of course my GX470 had new brakes, tires, timing belt w/ all fluids, and a full tank of gas. But isn’t that the way it always happens. In the prime of her life with a mere 209,000 miles.

I look damn near as rough as my poor vehicle... It’s been a week and I’m still in severe pain.... concussion, Broken shoulder blade, neck/back pain, bruises everywhere, and just hurting all over.

Luckily I have the dash cam and the police report that shows the other driver completely at fault with me being stopped in traffic for several seconds.

Im very surprised at how bad the damage to the GX is. Here are some pictures.

I’m just thankful I wasn’t injured worse and that no one else was in my vehicle. As you can see... the back seat and the front seat are crushed together.

Good Lord!!!!! Thank God you are still alive to tell the story, Sir. I am sorry to see her pass. In a weird way thank you for posting pictures, as I would have never believed that type of damage could be that severe on our beautiful rigs. Not the sort of thing you want to hear , but I am sure you'll bounce back, and have a newer rig waiting for you on the other side of that tunnel. For now rest up and get better..

If it will make you laugh at least once, Guess what? I call Dibs on......... Never mind lol

Wow, Mr Jason. I hope you will recover soon. The vehicle is no problem, you can get another even better one. The most important is that you are alive.
Get better soon so you can hunt for another GX

Wow, that was a hell of a hit! That might be the worst damage on a GX470 I've seen! A lesser vehicle might not have been able to protect you, despite the injuries you suffered.

You truly are lucky to be alive! Get well soon, and let us know how you make out. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I couldn’t believe how much the GX was damaged. But a Mercedes C300 isn’t a small car.

The guy guy hit me at what would have to be 80mph.

Hes trying to say I stopped to fast for him to slow down. Thankfully I have a dash cam that shows I came to a complete stop with the rest of traffic before he struck me seconds later.

Whats even more crazy crazy is that he only had a small cut on his wrist.

I’m sad to see her go. Hopefully I can’t find another one in good shape. The GX470 is the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven. But it will be a bit before I’m even able to go vehicle shopping.

Also... depending on the salvage value.. I plan on keeping what’s left.
Too many good parts still on the vehicle. I can at least part it out.

Or keep the parts for a new GX if you need one day.

Wow - glad you're okay! I'm guessing you got pushed into the car stopped in front of you?

A lesser car would have had significantly more damage than this. The GX did a good job protecting you.

Talking Wow

Mr. Jason1
Thank you for posting pictures. I would never have imagined that a C-class Merc can do that much damage to a body-on frame GX! I have to say, the truck has saved your life, sir. That is the most important thing. Get well soon and get shopping for a new rig. Keep in touch, even if you decide to get a C300, lol

Wow! I can only echo what's been said. Definitely glad that you're going to be alright. It's sad to see your nice truck in such a sad state, though as mentioned thank you for posting pics.

Hope you get enough to buy at least 10 new ones after your lawyer sues the s*** out of that Mercedes driver. Glad you survived but it sounds like you have a long road to recovery. Stick with your treatment until you're 100% better or the docs say there's nothing more to do. Looks like you'd be dead had you been in a midsize sedan or smaller or a compact SUV. That looks like bodybag type damage there. Good luck and hope you get better soon.

Would anyone be interested in a AFE intake system? The front of the vehicle wasn’t hurt.
I bought this about 2-3 months ago.

Possibly, what are you looking to get for it?
