Default Updating Map DVD

I ordered a newer map DVD and it tried ti install but got to a message that said that it could not read the DVD. Anyone else done a map update? I have an 06 and it should have a gen 4 system. Here the DVD I ordered.

What year is your GX470? IIRC, there have been 3 generations of nav system used in our SUVs.

The Lexus Navigation site is no more, but the Wayback Machine still has a copy that will give you the right part number:

Mine is a 06 and is supposed to be a Gen 4. The DVD itself may be bad although it looks fine. The company that sent it already issued a credit and did not want it sent back. I ordered another one off EBay so if it does not work I’m not sure where to go next. The nav is working fine with the old DVD.

I just checked that archive and it’s the correct part number.

Had a similar experience with my 2006. Got an ebay update several years ago which installed and worked fine. Tried to update with a more recent ebay version last year and it wouldn't load. Got a replacement from the seller and it wouldn't load either. Decided to give up.

Hmmm that’s disappointing. As far as I can tell these are Toyota DVD’s as I’m sure yours was. I may go ask a dealer if they have tried to update them.

The DVD I got off Ebay came with a detailed instruction sheet and the first step was to install the DVD with the engine running and the Nav on, I did that and it loaded instantly.
