Default Bluetooth Capability?

Are there any options to have Bluetooth capability integrated into the sound system on a 2005 GX 470 besides using a Bluetooth cassette? Unfortunetly, I don't think there is an auxiliary port.

Thanks in advance to any replies. I'm hoping there is some option available...

There are a couple of aftermarket solutions - look at Vaistech and USA Spec. They generally plug into the factory harness and show up as a MiniDisc changer if you set the switches correctly.

Thanks for the quick response Chip. Initial research looks like the Vaistech product my be the best choice.

I am interested in anyone's response on their experiences.

I just ordered the VAIS TECH SL3B-L today to allow music streaming based on helpful information from this board. Any installation tips, photos, and/or videos are definitely appreciated. I'm going to attempt to install it myself.

Does anyone have any photos or videos of the VAIS TECH installation?

I don't have any photos, but I ended up velcroing the box on top of the 4x4 control module, which is down by the glove box. There just wasn't room elsewhere, and I didn't want it to rattle if I loosely just stuffed it in somewhere random.

Chip, thanks for your response. If I can identify the 4x4 control module, I will try to velcro it there as well. Do you see how or where the USB charging cable could be used? I'm hoping to find somewhere to tuck the cable out of sight until it needs to be used.

I use the USB with a memory stick. I just routed it up and over the back of the glovebox, and it ends up there where it's easy to swap sticks.

BTW, read your manual about loading music on a memory stick - there's a special directory that caches stuff, and if you add music you need to remove that directory first (so that the "deleted" directory gets overwritten by the new files). Or just reformat the stick and reload from scratch.

I installed mine and snaked the cable and the module into the glove box. This way I have access to the usb plug and I leave old phone in glove box and that's where I have my music.

Only issue is start the radio at am then press the disk button till you get to md player .

For clarification, which glove box are you guys referring to - the one in front of the passenger seat or the one on the center console?

The one in front of the passenger.
There's little room in the console - the bottom of it is pretty much right against the steel driveshaft hump.

Has anyone had trouble connecting the female 20-pin harness to the male factory 20-pin harness? I am trying connect the harnesses and it isn't snapping together. I suspect the female harness from VAIS Tech is defective and am waiting on a return call from them.

Chip, I don't know where the 4x4 module is that is near the passenger glove box but give you credit for finding space. You are right, there is just no space to hide it. Did you have to go through the glove box to find the 4x4 module?

Yes, I had to drop/remove the glovebox. I believe some people have removed their CD changer to make a space, but I wanted to keep it.

When I did my install I did not have to remove the cd player. I installed my vias unit so the cd player was still usable I just ran the module cable into the glove box and Velcro the module box inside the glove box was easy no issue at all and this way it is accessible if you need to up date firmware and also you can access the usb port to plug in your phone

It looks like I will have to get another cable since there is something wrong with the 20-pin harness...it just will not snap into place.

Thanks again for the help on the install.
