Having trouble putting gas in fuel tank
I have a 2005 GX470 with close to 135k miles. It is in great condition and runs well but over the last year or so, it is getting more and more difficult to fill the car at the gas station.
Every time we start filling the tank, within a few seconds the pump cuts off, as if the tank is full.
We have to fill it very slowly and purposely lift up the nozzle to allow air to come out from the fill pipe.
It feels like there is a blocked fuel pipe vent somewhere. I can't see where that could be located but there must be one.
Any tips and suggestions on how to fix this? I am pretty handy so as long as i know where to start, i am not afraid to get my hands dirty.
Thanks!

Same gas station, same pump? Or at different pumps?

Different gas stations, different locations - still happens. Some gas stations, it may be worse. I depends on how well the fuel nozzle seals around the fill neck of the car.
I am pretty sure there is something off with the car. Seems like It is not "breathing" properly during the fueling process.

Maybe you have a leak detection pump malfunction, or maybe a pinched or clogged vent hose. I would get under the truck with a light and see if you can follow the filler vent hose from the cap to the tank. Have you had any work done back there? Been in a accident or anything? Maybe off roading and got something up there to pinch it or something?!
