Wheel Spacers for larger Tires
Happy Friday!
front tires rub.
I put the OME 2.5 lift on and then 285s on. The tires rub when turning really sharp, like turning in to a parking space. My shop said that I could put a couple of washer behind it to create some more room OR OME has spacers 1.25''. Does anybody have any experience with those spaces? Do you have to change out your lugs nuts for longer one. Totally lost on how they work.
Thanks!

Smaller spacers may require longer wheel studs to get the proper thread engagement on the lugnuts, but at 1.25" the spacer should come with it's own low profile nuts that hold the spacer to the hub, and the spacer would have another set of studs that the wheel would then bolt to, using your stock lugnuts

I've used Spidertrax 1.25 inch wheel spacers on a 4Runner before to help with the same issue you're describing. I ran them for many miles with no issues. Highly recommend that you follow the directions from the manufacturer. Use the correct loc-tite, and torque them correctly. If you do this they'll work great. Many people run these for years with no problems. Search Spidertrax and check it out.

Use blue loc-tite on the spacer nuts so they don't loosen and torque them to spec and you should be fine. They do put extra load on the wheel bearings, same as if you put different wheels on to achieve the same results, it doesn't appear to be a big issue on these trucks, Subaru cars seem to be sensitive to offset changes though for example. Also, don't cheap out on these, make sure you get good quality spacers, keeping your wheel on is an important job. Spidertrax is a good name, but there are others as well.

NBBAZ, I have a question for you, I went form stock 17 rims which corroded to 20 aftermarket rims. After road force balance, hub rings, I still have vibration at 70mph, smooth up to 65 and from 70 to 77 I have vibration and then smooth at 80 to 85. New Michelin tires. I was wondering if the spacers would help? Thanks

I’ve lifted and put 285’s on with stock wheels. The tires rubbed the UCA so I bought Spidertrax 1.25 spacers. I never installed them though because I just bought new rims. I have cut out the inner fenders as well because of rubbing.
Also, my new in box Spidertrax 1.25” spacers are for sale.
