gas door opens itself
The gas door open and closes for the most part but sometimes I found the door will pop open when the car is parked Or while driving..
I heard something about the hood cable can interfere with it, if that is even possible?
The gas door lever seems very sensitive, I went to pull this lever just a tiny amount and the plunger will release the door, not sure if this what's happening maybe the cable so taut and I hit a bump the door opens.
I checked the fuel door at first I thought someone was trying to pry it open, but doesn't seem to have been messed with, there are some paint rubbing off on the front edge of the door when it is opened, but alignment and gap seems fine.
The plunger doesn't seem to have be centered all that well with the latch of the door. I am not sure if there is some adjustment to the plungers location?
Thanks

Pole Position
I think the lock plunger wants lithium grease.

Plunger definitely is engaged with the hole in the lid.
My problem is that the cable seems pretty taut, does your door pops open at the lightest pull of the lever?
I will try the lubing the plunger, the spring push in and out just fine however.
And yes this part really cheap on the truck, feels like something out of a subcompact rental car.

My issue with our 2009 GX is the opposite. Pulling the release lever under the dash sometimes opens the lid and sometimes not. If not, we have to pry it open. The spring/clip is still in place but perhaps needs replacing. There is very little tension on the cable--i.e. the release lever pulls up easily to the end of its travel. I will try the suggestions in this thread and see if that helps. Thanks, Nick

My gas door is just the opposite , I pull normally and the door sticks, Lubes only work once or twice. Its no big deal , it pops easy if I pry the door lightly. I figure the hinge is binding a bit.
