Really poor revving due to altitude change
Hi
I've been having an issue with my 2003 GX470.
When driving from the coast up to 6000' it is normal for a car to lose some performance. But in my case it is ridiculous. After around 2000' up the engine won't even rev over 3000 rpm and it gets very very hard to overtake. I can slowly gain momentum up to 70 or 80 mph but only if I take it easy on the throttle.
Stopping and turning the engine off during the ascent for a few minutes seems to help a bit. With car parked at destination overnight the problem fixes itself. Normal revving at 6000 feet high the next day.
No lights come on on the dash.
What gives?
