GX470 Cargo Door
Does anyone know if the newer model (2010-2012)GX460 cargo doors would fit on my older model GX470? Or if I can mod the rear window on my cargo door so that it opens.
I have a 2006 GX470 that I LOVE. But I really like that the cargo door with the window that opens on the newer models. If I could Mod mine or purchase a used newer model door, have it painted to match and installed that would keep me from wanting to upgrade to a newer model (save me $$$).

Just my opinion, but if you have enough money, you can get your rear door modified. Our GX470s never had an opening window in the rear door, so it would be a total custom job. No telling if parts could be "borrowed" from any other vehicles or not. For sure the GX460 would not provide much help, aside from the architectural perspective (e.g. Make my 470 rear window behave like a 460 rear window).
I would seek out some custom body shops/coach builders to bid on the job. For sure the usual/common body shop wouldn't be able to adequately bid the job, let alone do the work.
From my experience, $5000 may not be enough. I am going to guess bids will be between $5K and $10K to do that job and do it right. Good luck with that.....
