I can tell you that changing the bulb is a challenge as you have to move the battery and remove the bulbs from below. I had to change one bulb recently but that was after 150k miles (9 years) the cost $4 for two bulbs.

The replacement bulbs I bought from Auto Zone are MUCH brighter than the original bulbs, so I changed out both. However, I am interested in LEDs, but it's not looking like I will switch to LEDs due to cost. At $4.00 for 2 bulbs, I can probably buy dozens of 1156 bulbs for the price of the LEDs and the flasher relay--don't believe it's worth that much to me to have LEDs.
Some things are better left alone.

Ok, so is it then necessary/required to have LED bulbs in all FOUR turn signals, or can you run two LEDs in front and regular incandescent bulbs in the rear.
Also, since our front t/s bulbs are also our DRL bulbs, which LED bulbs did you use in the front? Several LED bulbs I have found on the web (listed as 1156 replacements) specifically state that they can NOT be used as DRL bulbs. Confusing to say the least....

You all have another option of removing your own Flasher Unit and doing the mod. Remove the unit and add a Bourns Potentio Trim pot trimming meter. If you are good at soldering on circuit boards, then this is the cheapest way to save your bucks, and the turn bulbs are literally daylite.
Once you fix it, the first time it will not lit up, you need to turn the guage to the required voltage on and then all lites up, You can do the brake lamps as well. With one single flasher.

Here is the image of what I did to a friend on his GX flasher.
