Are you referring to the daytime running lights on the front of the vehicle or something else?

I'm not sure if Lexus has the ability to turn the daytime running lights on and off, but if you don't, you could also pull the DRL Fuse.

If you turn the light switch one notch, the DRLs turn off and that other light comes on - you could leave it on that setting and take out the "other" bulbs. (Not sure what those bulbs are called...)

I believe that if you turn it one notch, the DRL's are still on. The DRLs only turn off when the main headlights turn on I believe. The first notch is for the parking/license plate lights.

DRLs are said to improve safety because they increase the visibility of the car to other traffic, especially on shadowy, tree-lined roads and at dawn or dusk. They increase safety as other drivers are more likely to see you.
If you want them removed, just tell your dealer, they will have it de-activated. It can be done without any faults triggering from the ECU onto your cluster. Any other means you would a warning lamp activated.

Personally I did not like the color ( Amber) so I decided to go the LED way.

I agree that DRLs are a great addition to safety, especially here in Colorado where we have many 2-lane rural highways, and lots of drivers simply don't pay much attention to what they're doing when they're driving.

If I could ask, what mods did you have to make to switch to LEDs? I wouldn't mind switching, but I don't wish to add resisters, etc. to make the LED bulbs work properly. Plug-and-play is what I'm looking for.

You need to replace the existing flasher unit with the Toyota Denso LED Flasher.

Ok, so is it then necessary/required to have LED bulbs in all FOUR turn signals, or can you run two LEDs in front and regular incandescent bulbs in the rear.

Also, since our front t/s bulbs are also our DRL bulbs, which LED bulbs did you use in the front? Several LED bulbs I have found on the web (listed as 1156 replacements) specifically state that they can NOT be used as DRL bulbs. Confusing to say the least....
