Default Radiator Replaced

At 74K miles..radiator started to leak...guess there are two plastic tanks, one on each side of radiator. Tank was leaking on driver side. From what I have read here, 04's had a design issue, based on recommendations of members here on CL...went with a high end KoyoRad....parts and installation total cost $400. Including Lexus coolant!

FOOTNOTE 1 | Radiator replacement

Operation Description:
A trained automotive technician will disassemble the components surrounding the engine radiator including the cooling fan(s), air conditioning condenser, sensors, hoses and bracket. The technician will then drain the radiator coolant and ensure it is properly recycled. The technician then carefully removes the radiator hoses from the radiator housing. The new radiator is carefully installed, the components are re-assembled and the hoses are connected. The technician fills the radiator and cooling system with the factory-recommended coolant mixture. A test is then conducted to ensure proper engine cooling and system soundness.

Significance:
The radiator is an integral component of the cooling system. Engine coolant leaks from your vehicle’s radiator indicate age and reduced efficiency of the radiator. A leaking raditaor is like a ticking time bomb. It's not a matter of if it fails, but when. If a leaking radiator bursts while you are driving, the engine can lose all of its coolant and overheat. The result can be expensive engine damage.

Advantage:
By properly maintaining your vehicle's cooling system, of which the radiator is a major component, you will make sure that the engine is properly cooled. This benefits you because your engine will run efficiently and “healthy”, and the other cooling system components will work better and longer. Replacing the radiator when a leak is first discovered can also save you money by avoiding possible engine damage and costly engine repairs.
