Keep my '08 or a get 460 ??
Keep the 08 or get the 460 , my 470 has 165K miles and while that's not a lot of miles , it's everything else I am worried about as I read threads of problems others are having
The reason I am thinking this way s because i am considering lifting and changing bumps to make my GX 470 more off road worthy
If I did buy another GX it'd be a 2010 though 2013

Well this depends on other things such as how is it mechanically and cosmetically- ready for a change? If it’s in very good condition I’d say keep the 470 and mod it to your liking. Both are great rigs. Just my opinion but even though the 5sp in the 470 is not as fuel efficient as the 460’s 6sp, it drives better, feels more pep and climbs hills without feeling lethargic (460 loses speeds quickly and requires you to bury the throttle at least half way to initiate a kick down). Also watch out for oil leaks at the timing cover dripping down onto AC compressor, get under the car to inspect for oil leaks around oil pan and junction between back of engine and tranny (rear seal?). Another big one is “valley” coolant leaks. The fix requires removal of intake manifold.
If its solid and maintained . Paid for! It's cheaper to keep what you have .
On the other hand ...If you can get stupid money for yours , that's a whole different story
So see what you can really get for yours first. Still got test out a 460 and see if its worth the switch compared to a nice lift on what you have.

I have a 2013 GX 460 that I would not consider lifting . wife's car
So , I have experience with both and I do love my 470 more , just reading the problems on the first gen GX compared to second gen and then ther'e the miles on my 470

I've had my GX470 for about 8 years now, and a GX460 for a couple months, the GX470 would be my pick for offroad use no question.
The 470's engine makes better power down low, makes it feel more powerful despite being down nearly 70hp, I really think the 460 could benefit from a Sprint Booster or similar device as it feels relatively gutless in certain situations. The older 470 would hurt my feelings less if it took body damage off-road, or even getting chewed up by gravel roads.
Maintenance is going to come up more on the older truck, but you don't have a car payment, so you've got room in the budget for maintenance and mods if you keep the 470 and lift it.

Yeah , I am leaning that way now , maybe even buy a lower mileage 470 and sell the 170K mile one
Thanks

It does. Installed a pedal commander and it is a night and day difference. Once the engine warms up it is like driving a completely different vehicle. Very responsive. I run City +1 and love the fact that I no longer have foot fatigue and the cruise control seems to be working out a bit better.
Yup . shore does . night and day , got one on my 460 2013
BTW , purchased a 2013 with 64K miles for $24K , luxury , airbags and all . Can't tell it has airbags , though , compared to my 470

I prefer my ‘05 470 (160K miles) over my wife’s ‘17 460 (60K miles). It’s lighter, much quicker off the line and more fun to drive. Fuel economy is comparable. Air injection failed a year ago; didn’t affect drivability but my dash lights looked like a Christmas tree. Since we don’t live in an emission check state, a simple electronic work around and an exhaust isolation plate fixed it.
