Default Rebuild bs replace...(calipers)

I’ve seen lots of people mention stuck calipers.. there are replacement calipers for $59-$350 each or in pairs... first of all, my calipers aren’t frozen/stuck yet.. but it appears to be a common issue.

So so my question is... why not just rebuild them every 100-200 thousand miles? My vehicle rolled over 200k last month(but I put 70k a year on the GX just from my work commute.

Rebuild kits are about $15 for all 4 calipers. I’m going to be doing brake pads on all 4 wheels tomorrow. I just wish I’d have grab some rebuild kits prior. Lol

here’s a good link for rebuilding your calipers after they have frozen. Thoughts... also, take in mind that I’m tech.. not a weekend DIY guy.

Just staying but if you look online at parts from junkyards you can get a pair of used OEM GX460 calipers shipped for less than $150 all day. If you look around you can find a set for under $100. When even bother rebuilding if you can just replace for that cheap with something that probably isn't going to go bad

Rust is what prevents me from rebuilding, the pistons often are pitted after a few winters here.

Because rebuilding is less than $15... and I can rebuild one in about 30 min.
Plus I have a brake flush machine. So that helps. Lol

i can see not rebuilding if you feel uncomfortable with your ability, you are doing it for someone else, or you live in the rust belt.

But im going to rebuild mine just as a precaution... you know.. before they seize up.

Thats fair. I don't have a shop or a lift that I can use so for me its not that I don't know how to rebuild just that I'd just rather replace them and not deal with it again

Im just a penny pincher. Lol

i like to save money as much as possible. Since I do this for a living.... it’s much easier for me to rebuild. But I can see a weekend DIYer going with replacements. Makes more since.

But I added the link to show people that it isn’t that tough to rebuild your calipers instead of replacing them.
