My Plan.
Jackhicks,
I have been looking at the GX460s before I decided to by my 470. I found the 460 to be overpriced considering that suspension is essentially the same and you get the same truck (almost the same size, if not a bit more cramped inside). I like the sound and feel of the 4.7L V8 better than the 4.6, although the latter one is more powerful at higher revs, but you really need the torque, not hp in this setup. The only reason I would consider the 460 is because it has opening rear door glass to fit longer cargo. Otherwise, I see no advantage of the 460 over 470. The leather in the 1st gen GX seems a bit tougher. I don't think the perforated 2nd gen leather seats will stand the test of time. I like the key in my ignition instead of push button. If you were going to convert it into a camper/overlanding rig, the 470 has a larger rear opening once the 3rd row of seats removed (mine are stored in the basement). The 460's floor is elevated in the cargo area to accommodate for folding rear seats. I can go on and on, but you get my point, I'm sure. Unless you're willing to pay $35k and more for a newer GX to get one with the least mileage, there is no advantage in overpaying in a newer model with similar miles as the 470 or more for a reasonable price.
Now, as IanB2 suggested, you may want to ask 460 owners on their discussion board. I have heard some of them regret they "upgraded" to 460s and they miss the brutality and capacity.
Hope this helps!

Get those axle boots replaced or dirt will get in the CV joints and you'll have to buy new axles. The wheel bearing you'll need to do eventually but it can wait a bit. If there is play in the wheel that could wear out your tires prematurely so keep that in mind. If whoever inspected it didn't mention anything else so I'd say don't worry about the suspension until you get told that it needs to be replaced.

There are 4 boot kits on this link. In order to replace front axle boots, what do I need to buy? All 4 of them?
Between those 4, there are only 2 part numbers - 0442760141, 0443760042. Do I need to buy 2 of 0442760141 and 2 of 0443760042 regardless of the ref number on the left(04438F/G/H/J)? It is very confusing to me.
Thank you.
A question please.

I'm getting wheel bearings replaced soon. Regarding the axles my local mechanic inspected it after the dealer and he said that I don't have any leak there. I don't know who to believe to now. I might pop in to Toyota and have them inspect the axle leak as well and see what they say.
Be careful on dealer quotes... a lot of times they are trying to quote you into a new car they can sell you. I work for a dealer that took my GX470 on trade... the customer has just received a $9k quote(a married set of doctors that both owned GX470’s).
So I bought the trade in that had a blue book value of $14,995.... for $7k after TT&L!!!
it cost me $300-$400 and one weekend to fix what was wrong and half of what the dealer quoted wasn’t even bad.. or going bad!!
luckily they traded into an Audi instead of another Lexus.

Nice)))I didn't go to Toyota to get it inspected and just decided to replace it so I will not worry about it in the nearest future(the car has 165k miles). My mechanic will replace it for a good price. He is honest and good. He replaced a water pump on my old car (Acura RSX) for $100 for the job. I wish I had a garage and do it myself. But at the moment I don't have enough experience/knowledge. All I had done to my cars myself is replacing bulbs, general unscrew/screw, replacing air filters and the last one - installing Yatour)) Last time I when to a shop to replace my radio on my old car and it was not done properly. There was a part left in my glove box, that should have been sitting somewhere at the back of the radio, I could clearly see it was a part of my car. That's why I decided to install the audio system myself this time. But sadly, for mechanical part I'm not ready for DIY yet
Wow. You got a lucky deal for the GX470

but I’m 40 now and have been specializing in German cars for 2 decades... I also run a shop on the side that works on everything from tvs to lawnmowers to Lamborghinis. Lol
literally...
fixing things is easy... if you can take it apart... you should be able to put it back together. Identifying faults is a different story.
But basic to moderate repairs can be done by anyone with patience.

On your first jobs... just take pictures and be very organized with the bolts and nuts that you remove. It makes life so much easier.
Yes they do!!!!
german cars use weird sizes... but the Italians will **** you off!!! You need a rack of sockets just to take the engine covers and under shields off. Lol
