traction control sound
i have a 2001 rx300. lately at start up it has been making a grinding sound, very similar to the traction control when on slippery road condition. This never happened before and not sure how to fix this and how much. Happens only during acceleration even at very slow speed on dry road. can anyone help?
Like was said - this is the GX470 forum. However, the ABS pump does a self-test at startup, and it's what gives you the "traction control". I would have a friend start your RX while you listen close to the ABS pump (it's the one with five-ish brake lines going into an aluminum block) to see if it's the source of the noise.
Even if the pump isn't the source of the noise - you should be changing your brake fluid every three years (every two years if you live near the ocean or great-lakes). Make sure your mechanic has the software tool to run the pump so the fluid inside it gets changed too.
