Default Purpose of pump unerneath the brake master?

My buddy's '96 LS400 got hit twice badly within a month, and was totaled. So another buddy bought the wreck for $250 to get the 1UZ for his Jeep YJ engine-swap project.

Anyways, as we're tearing the car apart and collecting any useful remaining pieces, I noticed the pump under the brake master with a single hydraulic pressure line going over to the main ABS block, and then a suction line going to the brake reservoir. It got me wondering what the purpose of this pump is? I recently pulled a 1990 1UZ from the junkyard, and while that car had the main ABS block, it did not have that pump near the brake master.

That 1990 LS400 did not have traction control (I've seen people swear up and down that all LS400s had it, but this one certainly didn't - had the car-phone though?).

So if I'm thinking right, that pump is related to the traction control system, perhaps to provide initial braking pressure to the rear wheels for the traction control system?

Either way I grabbed it, because a 12v high-pressure hydraulic pump should be handy for something.

The trac pump and nitrogen chamber are just to the left of the master cylinder on Gen 1, not sure on Gen 2 what the pump is under the master cyl.
