Default Clock Buttons Not Working

'06 GX with 202,000 miles. The buttons on the clock do not work. The right one should step through the modes like DTE, MPG, etc. The clock is off by a little over an hour and holding the left button down does nothing. I suspect the previous owner may have gotten some interior cleaner into it. Looking for an easy answer, but I suspect this requires a full teardown of the nav and console to get to it. The clock is driving me crazy enough to consider pulling the battery cable until the time matches what the clock is showing and then reconnect it. Is the clock module independent from the whole NAV section?

On my 07, you cycle through the different modes with the left button. To reset the clock, you hold down both the left and right buttons at the same time until it flashes IL2 ( or something like that )- going by memory here.

The buttons on mine are starting to go out - I have to wiggle them to get them to change modes and set the clock.

The switch assembly is available:

but it's around $100 so I'll live with it.

It could be as simple as you need to be stationary and in park or the key in the on position. You can't be in drive or moving when you try to make adjustments. Try that. Hopefully that's all it is. Good luck.
