Default Rear Height Sensor Install Question

- dumb question but I don't have the manual at the moment. I'm installing
2 new rear height sensors and they came with a small plastic tab
which slides and is attached to the arm with a pin. The
plastic slider limits arm travel between the metal stop tabs. Is this just for shipping?
The old sensors do not have the plastic sliding tab attached.

thanks

Can you take a picture of what you’re looking at? I just replaced one of mine.

Hi, I am in the same boat..There is some sort of bracket that prevents the arm from going up/down. Please see pic. The bracket in question is the one being pointed to by the screwdriver.

Is that bracket supposed to hold the arm fixed at a certain position (tighten) or do we need to loosen it to allow the arm to move up or down?

Appreciate all your help in advance.

Does it move at all with that on? I just took my ride height sensor off a couple weeks ago and it did not have that. The arm needs to be able to move to tell the vehicle the position of the sensor. It needs to be able to travel the full rang of motion between the metal tabs sticking out.

The black tab is exactly what I was referring to on my post. I believe after looking at several photos of installed sensors that this is for shipping to prevent the arm from full-travel and damage. There is a plastic pin which comes out and allows the arm to move fully between the metal tab stops on the frame. The tab would not permit the arm once installed to articulate fully to adjust or sense height throughout the range

Did you remove it on your install?

Yes I removed the pin that connects the plastic tab to the arm. I have not tested as I'm waiting for new air bags
to arrive to install as well.

I removed the black pins and left the slide attached to the sensor frame.
The sensor travels fully between the tab stops. All is working properly now after
I installed new OEM air bags- 30 minutes a side easier than I thought. FYI Use the
AC/Fuel Disconnect toolkit from Amazon AC/Fuel Disconnect toolkit from Amazon
for 8.00 instead of the 46.00 OEM tool to
disconnect the air lines. I just Need to set the height to factory specs but all and
all a very simple operation compared to Audi and Land Rover air
suspensions I've done. I really only had a leak on the LH bag but since I'm going to
keep the truck I decided to refresh all the sensors and bags.

Great info. Thanks for sharing that info on the special tool to remove the air lines. That’ll be helpful when the time comes to do this job.

Thanks for the info!!! You mentioned you have to set the height to factory specs. How do you do that? Can you also share what the specs should be?

Thanks again!
