Default Rear Wind Deflector

Normally I find a rear spoiler on a truck to be quite functional. When driving, the vertical windows of vehicles like this have a negative air pressure bubble. Anything kicked up by the tires darts right for the back of the vehicle. The rear wind deflector ensures a constant wind flow from the top down to remove that negative pressure thus keeping rain and grime from sticking to the window.

For some reason the rear wind deflecter/spoiler seems to put more dirt on my rear window than without it. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

I installed an OEM rear deflector on my GX and was happy with the way it keeps the window clean. Without the deflector, you had to leave the wiper on all the time. It's not perfect with the defector, but it's a lot better than without.

Default Better with

I agree - my window was always getting dirty so I had the dealer add the "spoiler" and its quite a bit better now.

Unhappy Cost of Rear Wind Deflector

I have my GX in the shop right now so I asked the Dealer what the cost would be to put one on - he comes back with $1200 installed! There has to be a better price out there.

I would like to keep it OEM, is there any available for less then Dealer price? If so, where?

Thanks!

Thumbs up rear spoiler

I bought mine from irontoad.com. It was OEM and factory painted to match for $412.00. Installed it myself without any trouble. The worst part was finding the correct sized drill bits. I when slow (drilling a $50K vehicle was a little unnerving) and it only took a couple hours.

I figured I would quote myself again

I think the wind deflector (as I recall) makes it worse.

look,

Sorry to disagree, but it definitely reduces the amount of dust/dirt than without the spoiler. Just my opinion and $0.02 from my experience.

Your saying in general or with the GX? Cause I definitely agree in general.

I'd only speak from my personal experiences. The GX is the only SUV I've been this close to. It is actually my GF's but I mod it. So speaking from my experience with it, Id have to say the spoiler reduces the dust.
