Default Steering Wheel Leather?

I have a 2004 GX with cashmere leather but steering wheel is gray with wood. Some of the gray on the steering wheel is coming off in certain spots. I tried to match up touch up paint but no go. Anybody know where I can get maybe a grey dye match to touch up the steering wheel. Ugh, it's really bugging me.

Sorry to go a little off topic, but anyone know how to prevent this from happening? I saw this on some used GXs when I was looking and would like to prevent it from happening to mine. Some sort of leather treatment, for example?

I've heard of it happening because the driver has sunscreen or make-up on their hands (i.e. chemical action). The other way would be because of rings digging into the leather.

If you want to take care of your leather, get some Lexol cleaner and conditioner (two bottles) and some terrycloth towels.

not for anything...that leather steering wheel is 13 years old, and how many hours do you have your hands on it per day? got any leather shoes that have stood up that well...there are limits....

Stop by any high-end car dealer and talk to the used-car manager. Ask for the number of the guy that does their leather restoration.

Yeah, my local dealer is in between leather and wheel folks as they are looking for new 3rd party help. I'm going to talk to some leather shops in the area and see how much they would charge me to dye the grey of the wheel. If it doesn't still I'll have to just put a nice cover on it and forget about it!
