Default Maintenance Req'Light

I'm the recent owner of a 2005 GX470 with approximately 33,000 miles on the odo. The other day the Maintenance Required light turned on and has remained on. According to the owner's manual it is a reminder to replace engine oil. The engine oil was recently changed at around 31,000 miles. Do I need to change the engine oil or did the dealer not reset the light after the last service?

That maint light is programmed to come on at certain intervals and means Nothing really--as long as you continue to service your vehicle as needed, its a "dumb" indicator per say! To RESET it turn your ignition OFF, then Hold the odometer reset button and turn the ignition on to ACC (all the lights on) do not start it and continue Holding the reset button and you will see the MAINT light flash fast a few times and go out and you are done!!

Where the eff did the get an 05 with less than 35k miles? That would mean that the car was driven less than 2,600 miles a year.

It was quite a fortunate find. I bought it from a co-worker whose father was a recluse and only drove it from his home to the liquor store to buy booze.

Must be a Jersey thing! I picked my '04 from Jersey recently with only 46,500 on the clock. Been wondering about the maintenance light reset as well - thanks for the run down.

Reset the maintenance light so you dont have to see it.

Steps:
go to TRIP A and then shut off the car completely.
press and hold the trip button (as if you were going to reset the trip) while turning the key to the ON (not start) position.
Continue to press it until all the dashes that appear on the trip screen go away. Then release.
Viola! your good for another 5k before it turns on again.
