Default 05 GX470 backup camera

I'm looking for information on how to diagnose the issue with my backup camera. It started out as occasionally getting static, then occasional black and blue screen and now the permanent black and blue screen. I've removed the camera which is quite easy actually and posted a video of all the debris I found inside the actual camera case. After cleaning it out and reinstalling it nothing changed obviously. I cant seem to find a straight answer as to whether or not replacing the actual camera is what I need to do or not. The wiring and connections all seem to be in very good shape, and the rest of the information system including the navigation all seem to be working fine right now. I've attached a picture of the black and blue screen with the "check surrounding areas" message that appears when I put the car in reverse. Does seeing that message mean that a signal is being received but the camera is bad, or is it something else? If it is just a matter of replacing the camera are there any recommendations on upgraded ones or just the OEM?

That happened to our 04 GX. We just bought a camera on eBay and replaced it with stock camera. It works fine now maybe a bit brighter and clearer. $250 or so.
