Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I am doing a fluid exchange on my diffs and transfer case on my 2007 GX470 for the first time. I've read the excellent tutorials on here and am wondering about a few things.

I am confused as to whether the car is equipped with a limited slip differential (if so, which one?). I bought Winchester Auto's store brand "Supers SuperSyn" synthetic 75W-90 for the job, but I see many recommendations for the Mobil1 LS 75W-90. The Mobil1 says it is LSD compatible, but the SuperSyn does not. The guy at the store checked his computer and said that any GL-5 80W-90 or similar should be fine. Should I return the SuperSyn (since it doesn't explicitly say that it has friction modifiers for LSDs) and get one that does say it is LSD compatible (Winchester is the only nearby store, and they carry RedLine 75W-90 and Royal Purple 75W-90, both of which explicitly state LSD compatibility)?

My next question is about the grease for the driveshafts. I have a tube of Mobil1 synthetic (pink) grease, which I read is good for the u-joints (regular lithium grease). Does anybody have a recommendation for the moly grease specc'd for the slip joint? Winchester carries Sta-Lube (CRC) Moly-Graph, which says it is a Lithium Complex Grease with moly added. Is that OK to use?

I use the mobile 1 grease for all the fittings.

 

If your vehicle is stock, only the center differential is a LSD. The front & rear are plain-old-diffs.

X2, but worth noting that the center diff is NOT a clutch style LSD that requires a friction modifier in the gear oil to properly function, just plain old GL5 70W90 will do the trick. These trucks also have ATRAC which acts on the front and rear diffs, basically an electronic LSD in function but nothing fancy mechanically.
