Default Extended warranty

I did not buy extended warranty with my new GX that I bought 3 weeks back, but I am thinking it may be worth buying for the sophisticated GX as the repairs would run very high and I plan to keep the vechile for more than 4 years as I liked it a lot.
What should be a good price for it? I think it is offered by dealership's finance dept. Who should I really contact to get quotes?

Is that Lexus's warranty or the dealerships? I paid almost twice that for $0 deductible lexus original. I only bought it because I was concerned about the electronics. Not so much because its a 4x4, as I won't be doing much off roading.

It's from the Lexus dealership's third party administration called 'National Warranty Corp'. I was told it's valid @ all Lexus dealerships in US and Canada.

If you plan on keeping the GX a long time, then an extended warranty is a good investment. I know a lot of people will say otherwise. Hopefully you'll never have to use it, but it's a great peace of mind. For example, I can't imagine the costs if your nav screen went bad. Yikes!

I've had numerous items addressed on my GS via the extended warranty. But definitely shop around for the best price. I called four or five different dealerships before purchasing my platinum extended warranty.

Default Extended Warranty

I don't know about Lexus, but some American made cars offer the warranty even after you have already purchased the vehicle. Does Lexus do that? We didn't purchase it when received ownership Feb.1st, but may want to reconsider, at this point, no problems at all, other than the clearcoat peeling in one spot and Lexus fixed it and did an excellant job, but with some of the problems others are having, I am concerned. So far, no vibrating, sulfur smell, etc., just great riding! Already have over 6,000 miles, so it is broken in pretty well. Would appreciate any info regarding purchasing the warranty after ownership. Thanks! bp

I think you can buy the warranty *after* the purchase. There must be some time/milage grace period within the manufacturer warranty during which they would offer it. The reason I am seriously thinking about it is because 1) the car is very nice so we would keep it for a while esp since we are planning to have a 2nd kid soon and it would work well with 2 kids, 2) when the car's scheduled 60k service costs around $1000, I could imagine how much it would be if there is some major part replacement after 4yrs besides power train such as one of the various computers that are on board.

What is not clear to me is do I call up sales guys or finace guys to get quotes? because I think it is offered by the finance dept.

We are in sort of the same situation. We plan to keep our GX for a long time. I'm not sure how to go about checking into the extended warranty. Might want to call up our sales person and ask them how to go about it. Let me know if you find out anything and I will do likewise. bp

Thumbs up

After owning quite a few lexus over the years, I find an extended warentee to be a waste of $$$$. These things are bullet proof outside of the vibration in the new GX

Here is info from the Lexus.com site. You have 3 yrs or 36k to buy the warranty, whichever comes first http://www.lexus.com/showroom/protection/platinum.html

The only thing is the price increases each month of ownership. Lexus want the free use of your money while the factory warranty is in effect. Also the sales person for the warranty gets paid a nice sum.

I believe you have the opportunity to buy the warranty any time during the bumper-to-bumper warranty is in effect. So you have some time to decide.

Thanks,
