Default AC Switch Button

Hi guys!

I have a question. I was wondering if the AC Switch is supposed to be lit when the headlights are on? All the other buttons in the panel light up but for me, the AC one does not. If it is supposed to light up, does the black panel come off to replace the bulb? Oh, and I'm meaning the back lighting of the switch, not the light when you turn it on.

Thanks so much.

This diagram shows two bulbs for that switch (#6), so yes.

p/n 84480B, about $4

I've not had that one out, but you should be able to reach up behind it and push it out the front.

Hey Rob,

Below is the thread for what exactly you are looking for 08 and 09 year. I posted a picture of the panel in the night.

Hope it helps.

OMG! Thanks, guys! I will have to see if I can figure out how to get that panel out. (I'm not very handy, but I did manage to change the bulb for the seat heater switch, so I'm thinking I can do this one, too, ha ha!)

I appreciate the responses.

I am wondering if someone can help with my next question, though. I am completely stumped. I got the panel to pop out, but I cannot figure out how to get the switch out or how to get to it so I can check the bulbs.

Does anyone have any insight as to that?

Here is as far as I can get:

Looks like there are tabs on the switch body on the top and bottom. Squeeze them together.

You'll probably need to remove the connector on the back to get it all the way out.

OMG! I finally figured it out. Thanks so much for the help, Chip.

I shot a few pics to document in case someone else has some trouble. I don't know how to put arrows and stuff in the pics, so I'll just try to explain.

So after pushing the panel out, like the first pic I took, there are two tabs that secure the AC button in place. The can be seen in this pic:

Those two tabs will release the whole button fixture. I then gently pulled the fixture through the panel. There is an other "tab" that holds the fixture to the wires that connect to the car. That tab is in the space in the top middle of the fixture. You can see it empty in the above pic because I took it out.

The next pic is the other side of the button fixture. The white dealy is one bulb, the one that illuminates when you turn the AC switch on, and the brown dealy is the green bulb that is the backlight for the button. Just unscrew and the bulbs come out.

I hope I explained it well enough, and I hope the pics help if anyone else has this same issue.

Robert
