I acquired an '09 GX470 (42k miles) and I'm trying to tell if my AVS is really working.
I owned a 4Runner Limited with XREAS before. I was assuming that the GX470, since it had 4 settings, would provide a range that could be more sporty or more plush than the 4Runner XREAS single, fixed setting is.
But I also realize that it might not be completely straight forward to compare the two, since the AVS supposedly changes its damping dynamically based on driving conditions.
I would expect that I should easily be able to tell if my AVS is working when I switch between settings.
I cannot tell at all.
Do others agree that this probably means that my AVS is broken?
Or are the settings only subtlety different such that it might actually be working and is just hard to tell the difference?
With my GX, changing the suspension settings results in a clearly noticeable change in ride quality. While I might describe the difference between two adjacent settings as being fairly subtle, it is immediately noticeable if the setting is changed from the softest setting to the firmest setting.
