Default Ouside air temperature indicator

My outside air temperature indicator reads very strange. When I first start the car the indication is about 20 degrees less than the real outside air. After driving the car for an hour or so, the indication is about 8 to 10 higher than the outside air temperature. This plays havoc with the A/C system and fresh vs. recycled air.

Anyone else seen this??

I've noticed that when I start mine up, I might program my car for 73, it's 60 inside the car, and the AC is on, further freezing my butt off. After a few minutes it seems to correct itself. You're not the only one.

Exact same problem here, I'm getting it checked.

With mine, it registers around 15 degrees below the actual outdoor temp when the car sits under a parking ramp for a day. It never seems to recover. If I keep it in my garage where the temp is currently higher than outdoors, it's always fine. No problem going down in temp, the issue is going up.

If this is the worst of the issues, I'm happy!

Had the sensor changed yesterday. The service advisor is not sure this will cure anything, but it seems to workiing correctly.

Is the new sensor still working right? My wife says ours isn't working right and I may ask for it to be changed too.

The new sensor is working perfect. Took 5 minutes to replace and 30 minutes to wash the car.

Angry Temp Sensor is not working right

I realized that my sensor is about 20degrees off what it needs to be and I took the GX to alocal dealership where they checked the out. After about an hour they still could not fix the car and the sensor is still ~20 degrees off. Should I contact a different dealership? The also told me that it may take up to three weeks to obtain the sensor, which is quite strange.

The first attemp by the dealer was to reset the computer. For this they removed a fuse for 10 minutes, re installed it and reset the clock. That made no difference. Next was to order the sensor. It was ordered on a Tuesday and replaced on the following Thursday. Fixed the problem. I would ask them to 'just order the sensor'.

If they want to verify the failed senor, have them place the unit in a ice water bath and see what dash indicator reports. Should be 32 degrees plus or minus two.
