My shifter boot has worn a ~1" long hole in one of the folds and I want to replace it.

Our friends at Sewell only want $80 for it and it looks like a straight forward install, but am guessing someone here has done it already.

Do tell! Is it something I can readily attack?!

It's very simple. Can;t tell you the specifics off the top of my head, but it is pretty simple to get to it.

 

Seems like it should pop out.

Maybe carefully use a screwdriver wrapped with tape to avoid scratches?

 

Once you remove the shifter plate there's screws holding the boot in place.
