Default 1st lexus

hi all, just got a 2006 gx 470. picked it up 1 week ago, 113k, cypress pearl over ivory. looks and drives like a dream. has had regular oil & filter changes its lifetime at 2 lexus dealers. see no evidence of timing belt service. will get that done along with other fluid services. looks like a good one. was looking at a 4 runner & mdx, happy with this choice so far

I think Cypress Pearl/ivory is a great color combo - I was very, very close to getting one several weeks back but it had small dash crack and I couldn't get over that. Didn't want the headache of what I'm sure was down the road. Anyway ... congratulations, nice truck!

Welcome to the forum. Nice color!
Did you check the complete service history at mylexus.com? Maybe the timing belt was done????

Don't let all the posts from people with GX problems scare you. I hear there are many trouble free GX's out there.

thanks for the warm welcome. did check my lex.com does not show timing belt find it curious that the orig owner would change oil religiously at dealer along with some other services such as front & rear diff drain and fill @60K. brake fluid at same time. axle boots @71k. health check,po456ver@87K don't know what that is. vital fluid analysis @106K plus tire rotations, misc. blubs, etc. and not do tb service @90k.

Ask your dealer for detailed printouts. When I check my history on http://drivers.lexus.com/ it only shows 90K Non-warranty but does NOT go into detail of exactly what was done. My Lexus dealer gave me pages of detailed printouts that shows the timing belt and water pump, among other things, were done w/ the 90K service.

HMMM. That's interesting. Guess I'll' check with the dealer before getting too carried away with maintenance.

Before I bought my GX I had asked my dealer if the timing belt / water pump was replaced because I didn't see it on the drivers.lexus site. They said yes and printed out detailed pages of everything that was done to my GX since it had 6 miles on it. Under each visit it lists the total cost of the repair and that's broken down even more on how much was covered under warranty and how much was paid out of pocket if anything. Definitely ask them to give you those pages.

When I bought my E39 I went to BMW to ask for the maintenance history print outs and because of their policies they will only let you look at them in person. You're not allowed to make copies, photos etc. of the pages. I was glad Lexus did.
