Default KDSS Leak?

I was underneath my wife's 2006 GX470 Sport, and noticed what might possibly be a leak on the rear control cylinder pictured below:

KDSS seems to be operating normally, and there is no warning light. Do you guys think there could be a leak?

I haven't read about many problems with the KDSS system, but I have heard just servicing the fluid is like $600, and I don't want to think about what replacing that cylinder would cost!

Have you guys with KDSS and 100k+ miles had many problems with the system?

I'm no help but I was about to mention something about that today in the sport package thread. I've noticed most GX owners don't like to put the miles on and with most vehicles once you get close to or over 100K miles that's when parts start failing. With GXs just staring to get in the 100Ks I bet we'll start seeing KDSS problems. Unless you really need KDSS, it's just one more EXPENSIVE thing to go wrong on our GX.

I hate to say it but it does look like a leak. Keep an eye on it.

First before you jump to do any work on the KDSS leak, check from the service history records if at all any TSB work was carried out on your GX, Fluid pump pressure upgrade. Most of the 2004-2006 GX models were affected on the KDSS leakage. The had to replace the Hydraulic Anaerobic sealer and the revised coupler along the Fluid Pump pressure upgrade kit.
The TSB # SS001-06.
If they not been mentioned or carried out the job, I will flash you by email a copy, show to your dealer and get the job done.

Thanks Mann! That is good to know about! I am sure you just saved me a big headache and some $$!

I checked the service history, and didn't see anything on that TSB. I googled the TSB#, and found the PDF for it.

I have 80K miles, so I am out of warranty, but looking at the TSB it says:

Applicable Warranty:
With the LIFETIME MARATHON WARRANTY, all SPX products and parts are
warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product or
part. For service or questions on this or any other Lexus SST, call 1–800–933–8335.
Does that mean I won't have to pay for this fix?

Yea, I will, but it does read like it will be covered, which is a relief. I will post what I find once I figure it out.

Where can i get a copy of the TSB SS001-06? Every place I have found online wants me sign up for monthly service I don't need or want in order to view the file. The lexustsb.com page is all garbled up and their pdf download doesn't work. Any help?

Thanks!
