Downhill Braking Oddity?
Often, while applying light to moderate, constant pressure on the brake pedal while going downhill (let's say 45 mph), I'll feel the GX stutter (lurch) a bit when the brake is first applied, like I had lightly stabbed at the brake pedal and then released it quickly. Sometimes I think it may be from it downshifting, while other times I don't think it is. I know the GX has a "brake assist" feature, as in a panic stop, but this is a gentle braking to control my downhill speed. It is really annoying, and before I speak to the dealer about it, I was just curious if anyone else had noticed the same in their GX?
Thanks,
Tony
1. Come to a complete stop (doesn't have to be downhill).
2. Keep foot firmly on the brake.
3. SLOWLY release the brake pedal JUST UNTIL the car starts the move forward, keeping you foot on the brake pedal.
4. Press slightly on the brake pedal again, but not actually stopping the car to a full stop.
5. You will notice the car stutter, as if the ABS is kicking in.
Since I'm not the only one experiencing this, I'm assuming it's not a malfunction on my particular car. I believe this scenario may fool the VSC that the car is about to skid, and applies the VSC machanics to kick in. Any thoughts?
