Default Cost?

How much did you pay for the extended waranty? What do you get 'extended'? i.e. what does it cover.

I did get LoJack because I think it would be "easy" for a thief to disable the Lexus Link (i.e. remove the GPS antenna) and because the insurance savings with LoJack pay for it within the three years I expect to keep the vehicle.

What is LoJack? I assume its a type of GPS tracking system to find your vehicle if its stolen. How much does it cost?

Default LoJack

You are basically correct. LoJack is a transmitter that is hidden somewhere in your vehicle. If your car is stolen, you call LoJack, and they activate the transmitter which is monitored by local police (not sure if LoJack is national and if all police departments participate).

There are a couple of different "levels" - what I just described is the "basic" level - and is typically $500-600 (negotiable).

There is a higher level where you can be notified/paged anytime the car is moved (I think). Since I live in NYC and other people park my car I didn't pay close attention to the details of the higher levels.

Most insurance companies give a significant discount on comprehensive with proof of LoJack installation. My insurance company (State Farm) would not offer any discount for Lexus Link.

Thanks for the info -- I plan on keeping my GX for awhile so I'll check the insurance savings.

i didnt get lojack... becuase i do have lexus link.. granted they can take off the lexus link antenna but you still get a good idea of where the vehicle is... i think the waranty was 2k for the platinum or what ever the good one is.. basically extends the factory waranty to 7 years or 100,000 which is nice.. we had it on our 92 ls4 and it payd for it self when the ac went out.. not to mension the numerous air suspension that we had changed out... its nice becuase its from lexus so they take care of everything just like its still under the factory waranty... well thats all i got extra. they had the windsheld protection $300 but i didnt get that.. i do want wagg brush bars and some all weather floor mats

An additional $2K seems very reasonable for 7yrs/100K. I assume you have to purchase when you take delivery of the vehicle?

My business is leasing my GX for the first three years, then I'm going to purchase at the residual value.

Not true, you have 3 years or 36,000 miles to buy the platinum warranty (the most extensive warranty). However, you can negotiate the best price for the extended warranty when purchasing your car. I paid $1300 for the platinum 7yr/100K warranty (when my GS had 30K miles). Remember to call different dealers to find the best price.
