have an 03 Gx 470 from new, we just turned 201,000 miles. I have never had any work done on the springs or shocks. I have notice some ride deterioration and was wondering if there might be anything we can do to get the lexus ride back to new.

What seems to have changed in the ride quality? When are you noticing the symptoms?

 

At 200K miles, most of your suspension components are past their expected life, with the exception of springs. Some argue that coil springs should last the life of the car since it doesn't really wear out. Unless your front is sagging, you can keep your old springs. But, they are pretty cheap to replace. The rear airbags, however, are going to cost you $.

In order to bring your car back to "like new" suspension ride, I'd replace the following items.

Front and rear shocks
Sway bar bushing and connect links (ft and rr)
Control arm bushings (ft and rr).

The front shocks are not that bad... I think OEM is around $500 for both fronts. The rears, however, are real expensive. If you want to save some $ on shocks, you can replace them with Toyota 4runner (either OEM or after market). But you will lose the selectable ride comfort setting.

The control arm bushings are low cost items but the labor to install them are expensive. If you're a DIYer, they're relatively easy to replace given that you have the proper tools.

Also, if you're steering feels loose, you will have to replace the front upper control arm. The ball joint is part of that piece.

 

why dont you get it inspected at the dealership that car must need some service for all those miles, i have an 03 gx 470 myself...
