Default Automatic Wipers folo

I posted about a week ago asking how to override the automatic windshield wipers while going through the car wash. Several member politely told me to turn the wipers off. Somewhat chagrined I did just that. Today it started raining and guess what....the automatic wipers came on by themselves!

So, I am asking again if there's a way to override this, perhaps it was set up in the preferences.

It's an '07 with about 59,000 miles, one owner, comprehensive service records, very well maintained. Nonetheless, the wipers have a mind of their own.

BTW, this is my first Lexus. I've had four Mercedes, two Beemers,a Boxster an Acura RL and a host of other nice vechiles. So far the integrity of the GX continues to impress.

Thanks.

you have to move the whole stalk to the top position to turn off the auto feature.

I feel like the village idiot asking these questions but I'm finding the Lexus controls; nav, radio, climate, etc., not the most intuitive and I don't have the discipline to memorize "the brick" that is the owner's manual. My Acura Rl, for all its whiz-bang technology was much easier for me to use right out of the gate.

Thanks again, gentlemen.

BTW, this forum is great. I replaced a bulb in the passenger heated seat control thanks to some great step by step photos in another thread.
