Warped rotors
Hi fellow Lexus owners. I am new to the forum and I would like say HEllO, I have a 2008 GX 470 that I have a vibrating steering wheel during high speed. I took it in to the dealership and to have it checked and also at the same time I had the wheels rotated and balance and check they checked the vibration and told me that I need to replace the rotors because its warped not covered under warranty. I would ;ike some help on how to replace the front rotors, I check online like youtube but not found anything close to my model. If anyone could help me with pictures and a step by step info.
Thanks,

The issue is not the warped rotors, you can skim them. The issue is the Steering and Differential part that causes the vibration to the steering mechanism and can be flet on the floor board. Post me you email address will have the TSB sent , so that the dealer can carry out. This job requires Powertrrain Warranty - 70,000 miles or 72 months

The vibration I feel is during freeway speed. When I press the brake pedal the steering wheel start shaking. Email lycan9788@gmail.com
Warped rotors are common with the '04. At least it is with the OEM rotors. Just something that I have learned to live with. If there is something more superior, I am all ears.. You can teach this 70 year old new tricks, I am trainable. LOLOLOLOLOLO

The last time I did my brakes I believe the rotors were replaced with Centrex. It's been 25,000 miles and no problem. I think the idea or warped is incorrect, it is the build up of brake material on the surface of the rotor that produces e shudder when braking, hence the resurfacing. And proper torquing of the lug nuts insures that they rotors are evenly seated against the hub.

This is correct. Rotors almost never warp. What happens to them is accumulation of brake pad material that creates uneven rotor surface. When pads get hot, they can deposit a lot of material over time. When the car is big and heavy and the rotors/brake system works under more stress, there is more overheating situations that usually leads to more brake pad material deposits = rotors getting warped faster.
This can be cured in two ways - resurface the rotors (very common, but you can do it only couple of time) or just replace the pads with something made of more aggressive material that will scrub the rotors. I've done it with HPS HAWK pads. My warped rotors were completely fixed 2k miles after i put the HAWK pads.
OEM pads may be durable but often times they are known to 'deposit' on the rotors when very hot. Many people end up with warped rotors, blaming the rotors. Many of the cheaper aftermarket pads can make the problem worse, since they deposit even more than the OEM pads (crappy materials). I've had brake pads i got from local parts store that warped my rotors within 8k miles only!!!
Get some decent new rotors (Brembo blanks) and buy only high quality, high performance brake pads (Hawk LTS/HPS, Centric Posi-Quiet, Akebono, to name a few), i am pretty sure there will be no more "warped rotors" issues to deal with.
