Default 107K needs some mantanance!

Hey I have been doing searches on and off the past month or so. Allot of the information is old and some I dunno if I trust and does not answer some specifics. So with that said I am going to post here lol! if for anything but to clarify information and get these darn things done!

So I looked at the 105K and 110K service list. This is what I plan to do as there is NO record of what's been done in the past on this car. Strange but true. Not anything. It's in mind condition but for some maintenance things that get pricey later so prob. why it was sold.

-front and rear diff fluid change.
-Trans fluid
-Possibly a radiator fluid flush?
-front and rear brakes
-front drivers CV joint (guy says the boot needs replacing but I figure might as well change the whole part).
-new alignment needed!

Here are the parts I am considering. I dunno if I can use aftermarket tranny fluid or not. I dunno what diff. fluids to use and it's kind of shady to me if I should be using ceramic brakes or not as the tundra's and some 4runners have had warped rotor complaints since the ceramics run hot.

Here are links to stuff I am considering.

Trans fluid:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170854449823...84.m1423.l2649

Front brakes (I am told the fronts are OEM ceramic?):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130820723188...84.m1423.l2649

Rear brakes (none ceramic):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONROE-DX606...70752570939%26

CV Joint:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130726218636...84.m1423.l2649

Any big suggestions here form you seasoned owners?

can you verify if the 90K service was done? check your engine to see if there is a sticker indicating that the timing belt was replaced. if not, you should absolutely get that replaced and I would do water pump and thermostat while you are at it. if you are doing the diffs you should also do the transfer case and check for any leaks.

I did the timing belt when I got the car plus the water pump. That was needed.

Transfer case? Is that the trans? This is how much I know lol.

This should be confirmed but my understanding is that the Lexus GX requires Toyota WS ATF. The Toyota T-IV you found on Ebay may be a downgrade. Check your Owner's Manual.
Get Amsoil or Toyota branded WS AT fluid. I would not risk it, given how much it costs to replace an AT in these cars. Plus, the WS fluid is supposed to last much longer. You won't have to touch it any time soon. just My 2 cents...

As far as brake pads... for the last 5-6 years, i've always used HAWK branded pads on all my cars and i love them. Never used "Monroe" pads in the past, but i had negative experience with Monroe shocks. (cheap but poor quality)

I currently have the HAWK LTS brake pads on my GX470 and it stops very very well, without much dust or noise. For $70, i highly recommend these pads.

On the CV joints.... do you really need new joints or your CV boots are simply torn?? Do you have clicking/vibration from the joints? If you only need new rubber boots, buy OEM Toyota branded boots, and have them replaced at a reputable shop or do it by yourself. (took me 2-2.5hrs to install new OEM rubber boots on one side)
Many of the aftermarket CV axles are POOR quality. Much worse quality than the OEM axles that came with your Lexus. Do some research on google on aftermarket CV axles and you'll find many many horrible stories.
If possible, they to fix your OEM CV axles or if possible get OEM. You do not need to get the "Lexus" part and pay the extra $$$, there are Toyota FJ Cruiser CV parts/axles that are direct fit on the GX470.

Good luck!

Ok good to know on the WS ATF I will change that thanks!

Yeah I was looking at Hawk as well. They are about OEM price. If it's worth it I will get them instead as the Monroe struts I got for my RX sucked too haha.
These are the Hawk pads I was looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290534967603...84.m1423.l2649

I was told the inner boot needs replacing. Labor plus parts it's $175 reputable shop did my timing best service. Good to know on the after market quality!

Well I ended up going to seawell and used the member discount for the front/rear brakes and tranny fluid. That takes care of those two problems.

Still need to buy front and rear diff. oil and transfer case and CV boot

This the CV boot I need? FRONT DRIVE SHAFT INBOARD JOINT BOOT KIT (LH - LEFT / DRIVER SIDE)

other one says it's the FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BOOT KIT IN & OUTBOARD (LH - LEFT / DRIVER SIDE) so I think it's the outer rather than inner boot but it's so like me to buy the wrong part.

One of the parts is the inner boot kit only (1 boot only) and the other part is the inner + outer boots (2 boots). The second one is a good kit if you want to replace both boots on that axle and be done with it for the next 100k miles.

Copy the part number and check with your local Toyota dealer to see how much they want for the CV boots.

flush your power steering fluid or atleast suck out the reservoir and refill it and then again after a week of driving.. should bleed the old brake fluid out also or do what I described for the PS fluid. How about drive belt?

Drive it drained? I think you misinterpreted the advice. Drain and refill immediately, then drive it for a week to mix up the new with the old fluid, and then One week later repeat, drain and refill immediately. Just trying to replenish the old fluid without disconnecting hoses and draining the system.

you might want to just find an independent mechanic to service your truck.

Yeah I thought that seemed off. Ok yeah makes sence.

Drive belt a big deal? Yes I am n debate about bringing it some where but I am too used to Michanic friends helping me out. Why I get parts ahead of time.

If the drive belt is a pain I will bring it in just for that.
