Hi guys,
I have a prado that didn’t come with navi and would like to install the lexus navi since they are available 2nd hand. Now I have seen photos on the internet with the prado coming with navi but the navi maps looks like gen3 or 4 and personally I’m interested in the Gen5 look. Let’s say money aint an issue and wanted to know what’s the upgrade in terms of components from Gen4 to Gen5? I read in an old post here that GPS hard drive hardware is updated to a bigger memory, but what else? is the screen the same in all GX470 models? this information helps a lot when it comes in buying components.

I know I will need this to complete the conversion:
1- screen
2- frame
3- tape (has the control)
4- GPS drive
5- DVD changer
6- AC climate control
7- console lighting built in mic in front of moonroof
8- rear view camera (my car came equipped with rear view camera and screen is in the rear view mirror just like the FJ, so the cable is there)
9- anything else?

1- Bluetooth
2- aux
3- ipod
4- DVD player
5- Gen5 navi look

please comment and advise on how to make this conversion possible

I can understand why you want to go with OEM but itd be alot easier AND cheaper to go aftermarket. Plus they have better features and an all around better GPS than OEM units.

Good luck. I doubt anyone here will be much help as Ive never came across a thread of anyone adding an OEM Navi unti to a non-Navi GX.
