Wonder how much the functionality is affected by a non nav unit. Also were you able to find a good deal on it somewhere?

I got mine from Amazon. First one was defective and got a replacement. It's the same with the navi as with out. all the readouts are on the CD player screen if not navy. It's just reading as if its a CD.

Looking forward to hear how it works for ya. I need to quit being a bum and replace my cassette "ipod interface."

I have the unit in my Lexus RX330. It's very convenient. Charges the ipod as well. use the steering wheel to skip tracks. Very simple. Not as nice as the more expensive units but who cares.

I installed them on my GX470 and RX330. The installation is straightforward. You will need to buy a different cable for the GX470 above what comes with the unit.

They work great and the stereo with NAV function the same

Good to be confirmed about the different wires. Thanks.

PS: Where is the connector for the GX? I mean how do I install it? I did the RX two years ago.

I really want to get this installed. If you have any idea what cables you got for the GX I would appreciate it. I looked and most everything looks exactly the same or like it's for much older systems. I am pretty frustrated lol. Put this off for so long but really HATE making only Audio CD's and not even MP3 CD's sheesh.

I finally did it. Same wires. No need for anything else. Just had to unplug the CD changer to get it to work.

Does this unit have a Y-adapter so you can also plug in the CD changer with this unit, or does it simply replace the CD changer harness rendering the CD changer useless? Or did you mean that it does have a Y-connector, but you had to leave the CD changer unplugged to get it to work? Trying to figure out the best solution for my GX as well, thanks.

In my case with this older unit usaspec- 15 toy or something like that it would only charge with the CD changer plugged in. Once I unplugged it I got all the functionality.

This is not as good as the VIAS unit at all but it's also $100-$300 cheaper than VIAS. USASPEC goes for tops about $130. But it does what it says it's gonna do. However I find it's different than when it was in my RX330 as teh system is different. Sound is fla and off where the CD's had a fuller sound. I gotta figure out a way to deal with that.

Ps: I wonder how well the sound in integrated with the VIAS. I find the usaspec annoyingly shallow sounding. I dunno why.
