How to fix my pass side mirror?
On my 2005 GX, the passenger side mirror can move only left to right (horizontally) but it cannot go up or down.
I did some reading and it looks like this is a 'common' problem with Lexus mirrors due to the auto tilt-down feature. Something inside must be worn out or broken and it does not move any more.
The driver side mirror moves fine in every direction, so i am pretty sure it's not a defective mirror switch.
The question is.... since this is such a common problem, is there a fix for it, other than replacing the entire mirror assembly? Is there a "gear kit" or something else that i can buy, disassemble the mirror and fix it?
I found this thread on the LX forum, looks useful, but i am wondering if it really works on the GX and if there is any other fix?

Thanks!

My 04 GX has the same issue...any help would be much appreciated...I started replacing a lot this year (rear airbag shock, timing/water pump, new tires, cv boots today, hood shocks in about a week)...I thought about getting another car, but I love my SUV...Then I think, why not spend a little money now vs. having a high car payment and not deal with all the maintenance...
but I digress...
but I digress...
I am a bit confused about.... replacing the actuator assembly vs replacing the mirror ECU.
Some people talk about replacing the mirror ECU module to fix mirror operation. Others, just replace the mirror actuator.
If my driver side mirror works perfectly well and only the passenger mirror has up/down issues (but works fine left/right), does this look like bad ECU or bad actuator??? I would think that it is a broken gear in the actuator.
Thanks!

The actuator, same problem with 04, first passenger mirror last year and now just did drivers mirror, bought part from Sewell, about $100, don't remember exactly, took all of 10 mins to do. The part comes with directions
