Has anyone been successful in modifying their 4.7? We have a 2006 GX470 with 110k on the clock. It is well maintained and by no means does the motor need replacing. It probably runs better now than when we bought it
More out of curiosity and for future options I was wondering if the TRD supercharger had been implemented for our motors. Also, are there any 2UZ-FE "specialists" out there that offer head/cam, bottom end, intake packages, etc...
I've heard of the TRD kit from the Sequoia adapted to for a 03/04 GX470 (some great threads on this subject if you search). However, the 05+ engine w/ VVTI apparently does not have such a compatible kit, at least from TRD. As you infer, you would need a specialist to help tune a custom solution given your 06.
TRD pulled the S/C unit from the 2UZ-FE (4.7L) engine in 2004 because people bumped up the boost with pullies and were throwing the stock rods left and right. In '05 they added VVT-i and never looked back. The stock rods in the 2UZ-FE are pencil thin: (Toyota Tundra Rods, Sequoia Rods, 4 Runner rods, 4runner rods, GS400 rods, SC400 rods).
